You can flip the level to get new options and moves to earn more points. When the level begins shining, it indicates that you can flip it in order to create a match somewhere. It will flip differently if you tap the left or right side rather than the top or bottom. If you run out of flips, the level can still continue. However, if you run out of moves it will end. Ensure that you complete all the flips first and take advantage of all the matches they create in order to maximize your points.

Longer matches will unlock special items that grant special powers, such as bombs, lasers and color removal tiles. Create matches with four or five tiles or in "L" shapes.
