Climb the sides
Hold a falling piece that is not in the shape of a square or line against the wall. Then, repeatedly press A if it is against the left wall, or B if it is on the right wall.
Easier Game
For an easier game press and hold up and start while on the title screen.

From the title screen press and hold up and then hit start
Easy mode
Hold Up + Start at the title screen until the next screen appears. Game play will begin with less bombs and slower bricks.
Hidden borders
Play the game on an SNES with a Super Gameboy cartridge. Pause game play and press A. Press A again to cycle through all five hidden borders. Note: This cannot be done with the original version of the game.
More Choice Pieces
Every time you move a piece over, the game counts it. The more you move it, the game thinks you have more trouble with that certain piece, and will dish out more of them. You can exploit this every time you get a Tetris (Long "I" shape) piece, just move it from side to side as it falls. You will get it more often every time that you do so.
