When used with stage select it allows you to press 1 to view the whole stage.

Level Select

When the Sega logo appears on the screen, press down-left on the directional pad to go to a secret level select screen.

Secret Options

To access the Secret Options screen, press 2 + START when you turn on the game. Here you can change key mode, balls hit, balls left and use sound test.
