Sonic The Hedgehog 2

There are one of two endings you can get when you complete the game. One doesn't give full closure to the game's story but the other does.

In Act 2 of Under Ground Zone, there is a secret area. Its where you start, but further up is a ledge. In order to get in you must go to the bottom of the ledge. Go even further, turn around, and run at full speed. Then, press Down and you will start to roll. If done correctly you will break through and get in. Inside there 24 rings plus a ring box which for a total of 34 rings. There is a mine car that will lead you out. Note: There are many hidden areas in the game. They are often found in locations where there are perfectly square bricks. Just run at full speed and roll; or if there is a spring available, use that and roll.

Despite what the instruction manual states, you can exceed the maximum number of nine lives. As you start to build up lives, if the total is over nine, every time you lose an extra life, the screen will still remain at "9". However, as you start to lose lives, the countdown returns to normal.

On the title screen, hold Left+Down on the D-Pad as well as the A and B buttons. When you see Tails blink for the third time (he first blinks one time, then two times quickly), press Start on the *third* time while his eye is closed. If done correctly, you will reach the level select screen.
