In the Road To The Show mode, after you get on base and it goes to a third person view of your base runner if you have a decent speed rating keep tapping R to get a larger lead. As soon as the pitcher goes into a pickoff move, break for the base. By the time the player catches the ball and throws to the correct base you are already spaced. This works when stealing second base, third base, and home plate.
